Kimchi Fried Rice
When you get a craving for kimchi fried rice with fried egg on top, you make it. Even if it’s your first time.
What you’ll need!
1 cup long grain rice
3 cups water
1 tbsp sesame seed oil
Sesame seed
2 tbsp gochujang
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 cup kimchi
2 tbsp kimchi juice
2 tbsp softened butter
2 green onions
3 eggs
1 small yellow onion
½ lb bacon
Nori
Chili powder
THEN;
1.Add water to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Rinse the rice to get rid of any extra starch until the water runs clear. Once the water in the pot begins to boil, add in the rice and cook for 15 minutes. Ideally, day old rice is best for the recipe.
2.Cut bacon into small cubes and add into a frying pan. Stir every few minutes to prevent overcooking and cook until crisp.
3.Roughly chop the onion into small cubes. Take the kimchi and slice into smaller pieces.
4.Add onions to the frying pan and mix together with the bacon. Once the onions begin to soften, add in the kimchi and cook it down for a few minutes.
5.Mix together the softened butter and gochujang. Add the rice to the frying pan and pour the gochujang butter mixture on top. Mix everything together then add in the sesame oil, soy sauce and kimchi juice.
6.Grab another frying pan and add in butter then fry the eggs. My friend is cooked sunny side up but it can be over easy too.
7.Chop green onions into thin slices. Garnish the rice with green onions, eggs, nori, chili powder and sesame seeds.
