French Onion Soup
Getting my soup fix in before the end of winter with one of my all time favorites, French Onion Soup. A meal in itself!
Here’s what you’ll need;
6 yellow or white onions
1 Tbs Flour
1/2 stick of butter
1/2 Cup white wine
4 Cup’s Beef Stock or beef bone broth
1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
Sprig of fresh thyme
3 Bay leaves
Salt & pepper to taste
Sliced baguette, 1/2 inch slices
Sliced provolone, gouda or mozzarella cheese
Then;
Pour yourself a glass of French wine
Thinly slice onions
Melt butter in pot
Cook onions over medium heat
Stir onions often until soft and brown in color
Add white wine to onions, simmer
Add stock or bone broth
Add Worcestershire sauce
Add bay leaves and fresh thyme
Cook for 5 minutes on medium heat
Add 1 Tbs of flour and whisk in
Add salt and pepper to taste
Remove bay leaves and thyme
Remove pot from stove
Pre heat oven at 400 degrees
Fill ramekins with onion soup
Lay bread slices on top of soup
Lay thin slices of cheese over bread
Put back in oven for couple minutes until melted
