French Dip

Got leftover roast beef? Make it into a sandwich! I had leftovers so I whipped up some French dips topped with grilled onions, truffle cheddar cheese, a side of horseradish cream sauce and a beef broth au jus. Promise you, leftovers have never tasted so good.

What you’ll need!

3 cups beef bone broth or beef broth
½ cup Sour Cream
2 tbsp mayo
2 tbsp horseradish
4 tbsp olive oil
1 onion
1 garlic clove
2 rolls of bread
1 ½ lbs roast beef
¼ lb truffle cheddar cheese
3 tbsp salt
2 tbsp pepper
5 dashes worcestershire sauce
Chives

THEN;

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2.Cut half of the onion into slices and finely dice the other half of onion and one clove of garlic.
3.Add 2 tbsp olive oil to a hot medium saucepan then toss in the sliced onions. Cook on medium heat and stir until onions are brown and soft. Transfer to a medium bowl.
4.In the same saucepan turn heat to low, add in 1 tbsp olive oil, diced garlic and diced onion. Sauté for a few minutes before slowly pouring in beef bone broth and 5 dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Mix in 3 tbsp of salt and 2 tbsp of pepper. Allow everything to simmer on medium heat until it comes to a boil, about 5 minutes.
5. To make the horseradish sauce, combine and stir together sour cream, mayo, horseradish and a dash of worcestershire sauce in a small bowl. Chop a few sprigs of chives and add to the top of horseradish sauce as a garnish. Place in the refrigerator until serving.
6. For this recipe, I’m using leftover roast beef and carving it thin. If you’re making the roast beef from scratch, you can find my recipe from last week on my feed.
7. After slicing the beef, add it into the broth and let it sit for a minute.
8.Thinly slice the truffle cheddar cheese.
9.Slice the bread in half and add beef to the bottom half of the bread and then top with the sliced cheese.
10.Add the sandwiches to a pan and place in the oven for 5 minutes. Once the cheese is melted, remove from the oven and transfer the sandwiches to a board/plate.
11. Spread the grilled onions and some horseradish cream sauce on the sandwich. Cut in half and serve with a side of broth and some horseradish cream sauce for dipping.
